Item: Daiei deli chicken and hash brown potatoes
Description: In Japan, around the 7pm mark, most food starts to get discounted, from 10% to 20% to 30% and finally half price. I finish work usually around 9 and find myself in the supermarket around 9:15, when almost all the food in the deli department is half off. I love shopping at this time, it feels much like bargain hunting for your favorite brand at an outlet shop or sample sale; if you get it quick, it's yours but if you hesitate, the person next to you (the vultures who circle the table waiting for the discount sticker lady to apply her sales) will snatch it from your reach. This particular item is a combination of fried chicken legs and a breast plus some hash brown potato sticks. At the time it was 30% off, and I could've waited a little bit more to save the extra 60yen, but I guess I couldn't hold out long enough. Act quick, or the vultures behind you won't even let you have 30%.
