Item: Daiei dry ice service redemption token
Description: Ok so here's the thing about this piece: One hot summer day on my way back home from work I stopped by the supermarket to pick up a few groceries.  Deli products, noodles, spaghetti, some spaghetti sauce, and to put an end to my craving from the day's arduous work, some ice cream cones.  The cashier asks me a question to which I didn't understand, so my natural answer is "hai" or "sure."  Note: If you are unsure of something in Japan, I've found it more beneficial to answer "yes" before fully understanding the question.  Anyways, the cashier in return hands me this token.  Months pass and it goes unnoticed in my wallet, mixed with my coins.  One day I give up and finally ask my co-workers what the coin could possibly mean.  No one knew the answer (most thought it was a pachinko token) but through trial and error and re-tracing my steps as to where I obtained it, it turns out to be such a useless item; dry ice, which could last approx. 30 minutes with this token's redemption, for 2 ice cream cones, totaling a value of $2.10, for a commute that's less than 7 minutes, for a person who doesn't even use his paper towels "in case of an emergency."

The moral of this story is: learn Japanese.
